High Katabasian Roemont is one of the leaders of the Parish of Tide and Flesh. Roemont is 70 years old.[1]

Personality[]
Roemont fears losing control over his disciples.[1] Faulkner presents as a threat to him because he has swiftly gained popularity.[1][2] Roemont is sarcastic and refuses to give Faulkner the respect he is due in the Gulch.[3] He appears egotistical, yet cowardly.[3]
Background[]
Roemont has been a member of the faith for a very long time. He shares much of Mason's values, but seems to believe himself to be wiser than Mason was.[2] Greve implies that in their youth, both she and Roemont were similar to Faulkner.[1]
Roemont has had a long life that he views as successful. He led the Parish through dark times. He was the first Katabasian to lay his hands on the wreck of the Gulfwalker. He was the first to read the translation of the Phishing vision. He was the one to order the reclamation of the Gulch. He has more than earned his way into the Verses.[1]

Connections[]
- Katabasian Mason and Roemont seem to have some shared history. He echoes some of Mason's ideas and openly states that he wants to get justice for his death.[2]
- Katabasian Greve is a fellow member of the Katabasian's Council. They seem to discuss how to run things together.[2][1] In spite of this, Greve sells Roemont out to Faulkner, warning him of the assassination attempt.[3]
- Katabasian Faulkner and Roemont are rivals. Roemont views Faulkner as an inherent threat to his power and control.[2] He plans to kill Faulkner in order to preserve his own legacy.[1] Faulkner is the cause of Roemont's death.[3]
